Eyeshadow Palettes I Wouldn’t Recommend

You guys asked for it, so here it is. I’ve tried ALOT of eyeshadow palettes in my 20 years of life, and as of this moment, I own 53 (I know.. It’s a lot) Majority of them are cruelty free and are from brands in Sephora, Ulta, or the drugstore. I’m really weird about ordering online because every experience has been terrible (hopefully I will be able to change this soon.) So here it is, the list of terrible palettes.

The first palette on my list is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette. I’m including this one because of how hard it is to blend. It is a beautiful palette, but I wouldn’t recommend this unless you are VERY good at blending. A lot of the palettes I am including in this list have already been thrown out of my collection. However, this one will be staying. The shadows are very powdery, but (Insert Manny MUA “SO PIGMENTED”). It’s not the same formula as the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. With some practice, I’ve learned how the shadows have to be used and my eyeshadow looks with this palette have been improving.

This next palette gets me real heated. This stupid Too Faced The Power of Makeup by NikkieTutorials pisses me off. I bought this palette after seeing her swatches on her YouTube channel. If you don’t know the drama with this palette, Too Faced had two separate factories creating these palettes. YouTube Beauty Influencers got the good quality palette NikkieTutorials had in her swatch video, while everyone else got these terrible quality palettes. I got one of the terrible quality ones. I ended up just giving it away because I didn’t even want to look at it anymore. If you want a good review of this palette, Stephanie Nicole has a really good in-depth one on her YouTube channel.

Another terrible palette is the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette. This one didn’t stay in my collection very long either. The shadows were either patchy, or they blended into nothing. The first two Too Faced Chocolate Bars were so good, and I was very disappointed to see this palette didn’t match that quality. I wasn’t a huge fan of the color selection either. Hopefully the person I gave this palette to is enjoying it more than I did.

I promise I’m not picking on Too Faced. I said in my last blog about my Top 5 Favorite Eyeshadow Palettes that some of their palettes are absolutely amazing (The Chocolate Bar, The Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar, The Sweet Peach, and the Just Peachy Mattes) while others are not. The next palette on my list is the Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together palette. I’m only docking this palette because of the Too Faced side. The Kat Von D side is beautiful! The Too Faced side however looks like every palette they’ve ever done. The shadows aren’t that great either. I would highly recommend the Kat Von D side, but I believe it would be a waste to buy the palette and only use one side. Too Faced eyeshadow quality had been getting worse (I think for money saving, cheaper ingredients) but I think they are finally rebounding with the Peaches and Cream collection!

And those are the palettes I can think of at the moment. Let me know your thoughts and the palettes you hate.
