I know, I know. This isn’t a photography blog post. But this has been so highly requested on my Snapchat and Instagram account, so here I am, making a blog post about it. These are my 5 favorite eyeshadow palettes. I have purchased some, and some were sent to me or given as a gift.
First palette I’m going to start with is the one I use most often, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. This palette is AMAZING, but it’s sister palette was a bit of a flop for me. The Modern Renaissance has amazing quality eyeshadows, and the colors are perfect for the makeup styles I go for. They are easy to blend out (compared to the sister Subculture palette) and a perfect palette for beginners.
A new favorite of mine is the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes. I LOVE peach eyeshadows, but I was very skeptical of buying this one because Too Faced shadows aren’t always the best (ahem the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Palette) but this one is stunning. It’s highly pigmented, easy to blend, and it smells just like peaches! This has been my go-to palette for the past 3 days I’ve had it. I own the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, and I personally like the Just Peachy Mattes so much better!
Another Anastasia Beverly Hills palette to make it on my must-have list is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario. This palette was a collaboration with Mario Dedivanovic, and sadly is no longer available. I’ve always thought Kim was slaying the makeup game, so finding out the palette was by her makeup artist was an easy buy for me. These shadows are to die for and are the same amazing quality as the Modern Renaissance. If you didn’t get this limited edition palette. you definitely missed a great one!
The next must-have palette on my list is the Lorac Pro Palette. Lorac shadows are buttery smooth, and glide on effortlessly. As of this blog post, there are 3 Lorac Pro Palettes (not including the Lorac Mega Pros) and I would recommend all 3, so it’s really all about your color preference. Lorac Pro Palettes come with 16 shadows, and are perfect for freelance makeup artists! I love using them mainly for the transition colors and the beautful shimmers. (The picture starts at the top with the Pro 1, followed by the Pro 2, and finally the Pro 3.)
I know the blog post is “My Top 5 Must-Have Eyeshadow Palettes”, but when it came to picking a 5th, I couldn’t decided between these two. I love them both for the same reasons, but they are very different color shemes. I’m going to make them a tie for 5th place.
The first one in the tie is the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I own the entire Urban Decay Naked series, except for the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics. All of the Naked Palettes are great, but my personal favorite is the Urban Decay Naked Heat. (I love warm shadows that are copper, bronze, peach, burgundy, gold, etc). This palette has all of the warm tones I need in my life, and blends perfectly. These palettes come with 12 shadows, and are also perfect for freelance makeup artists!
My last must-have palette is the Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette. The shimmers in here are AMAZING, and you get the perfect selection of mattes. I love this palette for my more colorful looks. This palette comes with 13 matte shadows, and 9 shimmers. That is 22 eyeshadows in total, which was great for the price!(It was a little pricey) Unfortunately, this palette was limited edition. But if you weren’t able to get your hands on this one, her Saint + Sinner Palette will be coming this holiday season! I can already feel the tears in my wallet.
All of these brands were cruelty free. I strongly believe that we do not need to test makeup on animals for any reason. I try my best to only buy cruelty free, but sometimes I do make mistakes, such as buying from NARS before learning they went back to cruelty. All these palettes are also high end. I tend to stay away from drugstore eyeshadow palettes mainly because they don’t have the same quality in my opinion.
If you enjoyed this little blog post, I can definitely do one about the TERRIBLE eyeshadow palettes I have come about in my days of testing makeup. Trust me, there are quite a few that were pretty bad.
